Award-winning choreographer Fatima Robinson famously teamed up with Whitney Houston in 1993 for her ‘I’m Every Woman’ video, and now, over 25 years later, Robinson is returning to a partnership that has stayed near and dear to her heart. She’s signed on to be the tour director and choreographer for the ‘An Evening with Whitney,’ which is a new hologram tour featuring all of Houston’s greatest hits. The tour kicks off on February 25 and is the perfect way to wrap up this year's Black History Month.
Presented by BASE Holograms, and in partnership with the Whitney Houston Estate, the new hologram tour launches two weeks after the eight-year anniversary of Houston’s death. 'An Evening With Whitney' is the only touring Whitney Houston experience that is sanctioned and is in partnership with the Whitney Houston Estate. This global tour marries technology, innovation and imagination to reunite audiences with Houston’s biggest hits through a live performance.
‘An Evening with Whitney’ will include Houston’s hits like ‘I Will Always Love You,’ ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),’ 'I'm Every Woman,' and ‘The Greatest Love of All’ set to a live band with backup dancers. Robinson’s goal for the tour is for the audience to feel like they are in Houston’s presence again.
“Her music touched every generation, so we’re gonna take a little bit of movie magic and add it into our live performance.” Robinson said to GMA.
The tour kicks off on February 25 in Sheffield, U.K. and wraps up on April 1 in Stockholm, Sweden. Other tour locations include France, the Czech Republic, and additional European engagements. 'An Evening with Whitney' plans to venture to North America and Mexico with additional dates coming later in 2020.
Stage producer LeRoy Bennett (Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Prince) is handling creative direction for this tour, which includes a full live band, back-up singers, and choreographed dancers. The full performance will be fronted by a cutting-edge holographic Houston singing digitally remastered versions of original live performances.
Robinson, who was named one of Entertainment Weekly’s ‘100 Most Creative People in Entertainment,’ has also choreographed iconic music videos for artists such as Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, The Black Eyed Peas, and Meghan Trainor. In addition, her work was showcased at the Academy Awards, the Super Bowl, and in the movies ‘Dreamgirls,’ ‘Ali,’ and ‘Save the Last Dance.’
“Fatima Robinson is one of the most sought-after hip-hop and popular music choreographers in the world,” said the New York Times.

With Robinson’s creative touch, and Houston’s unforgettable music, this tour is the perfect celebration of black history in the entertainment industry. In fact, Houston will become an even bigger part of music history when she is posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on May 2 in Cleveland.
