Thursday, Oct. 5 is World Ballet Day — an international celebration of dance. The day has become an opportunity for audiences all over the world to see top ballet companies like The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet perform their work live on Facebook.

To celebrate World Ballet Day, Dance Network is sharing five of our favorite interviews with some the ballet world’s shining stars:

Misty Copeland:

Misty Copeland is the world’s biggest ballet star right now. The dance world hasn’t seen the likes of someone like Misty since the rise of Mikhail Baryshnikov in the 1970s. The American Ballet Theatre principal dancer has extended her fame beyond the stage with appearances on television and the upcoming Nutcracker film from Disney.

Justin Peck:

Justin Peck is not only a soloist and the Resident Choreographer of New York City Ballet, he’s one of the most exciting young choreographers in the dance industry. Ballet fans have been raving about his piece The Times Are Racing ever since its debut in January. The hits keep coming as critics have relished praise upon his recent debut of Pulcinella Variations at New York City’s Fall Gala.

Tiler Peck:

Tiler Peck made a splash on the West Coast dance scene with her weekend of curated dance pieces at BalletNow in Los Angeles. She performed her first Odette/Odile in Swan Lake just a week ago with New York City Ballet to standing ovations. She’s also seen in many of her longtime pal Justin Peck’s new creations.

Lauren Lovette:

The New York City Ballet principal dancer has been developing her choreography talents with the company over the last year. Her first work for New York City Ballet, For Clara, premiered at the company's Fall 2016 Gala. Her follow-up in this year’s gala, Not Our Fate, featured an intimate male pas de deux.

Kaeli Ware:

Kaeli Ware first came to Dance Network’s attention when we interviewed her for the dance documentary, Dance Family. She’s also known to Dance Moms audiences and briefly appeared on World of Dance last summer. Kaeli is now attending the prestigious Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia after a summer at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre.
