Season 25 is just around the corner for Dancing With the Stars and I must say that I am more eager for this season than prior seasons. There seems to be a little more buzz around the series and whether that’s because it’s a big anniversary season or because this is the last time we will see the show until Fall 2018, I am happy to feel excited about DWTS again.

A colleague of mine, who doesn’t cover DWTS, but follows the show, even clued me in on a friend of hers who caught a glimpse of behind-the-scenes production work happening at CBS Television City Studios right now and said it was, “massive.” It sounds like they are going all-out for Season 25.

There are a few other reasons that I’m jazzed for DWTS again:

1. Returning pros and a fresh face: I don’t think many people would argue that Mark Ballas’ creativity on the dance floor was missing for the last few seasons. From wardrobe to his fresh take on movement, his energy is needed back on the show. C

Cheryl Burke has always been a favorite of mine because she doesn’t buy into the DWTS hype. She does her work and when she has a contestant who dials into the show 100%, it’s always magic.  I am ready for her no-nonsense approach in Season 25.

I am also happy we have a fresh face on the pro side. I am someone who is an advocate of rotating pros and bringing in a couple of new faces each season, so I’m thrilled to see Alan Bersten get the opportunity this year. We certainly know what he is capable of at this level, but it will be fun to watch him spread his wings with his own contestant.

2. Choreography: Sharna Burgess has always been strong in this category and Lindsay Arnold has been killing it when it comes to developing routines that showcase the best in her partners. With Mark back and Val Chmerkovskiy spending the summer stretching his creative muscle at So You Think You Can Dance, I am excited to see what the season brings.

3. Fewer spoilers: I know some of you like to look at nail color and compare freckles and moles in photos, but I find the spoiler process exhausting. I am secretly thrilled that ABC put the clamp down on the leaks for now. I know that more than one media outlet is sitting on a cast member who hasn’t been announced yet, but the gauntlet was thrown. So for now, we wait… until you guys figure out all of the social media clues.

The official cast announcement is less than a week away, but I’m ready for coverage and that promised “feel-good” season.
