Dear 'World of Dance'...

Dear World of Dance,

I love you so much. You have brought some much-needed energy to the dance-competition format this summer. You touted yourself as the “Olympics of Dance” and you have delivered with some epic routines and surprising duels.

I couldn’t be happier that you are returning for a second season. While the pick-up order wasn’t surprising, it is well-deserved so early in the game. In fact, this show is helping the dance community grow at a tremendous pace. It’s going to inspire an entire generation of dancers.

There’s really only one thing I ask for in Season 2 and it’s because I love dance and dancers and this show — can you please not rush us through the routines? It bums me out when we have a montage or an edited routine because it’s often not found in its entirety on YouTube.

It’s the one thing — and I really mean, the one thing — that bugs me because I did want to see immaBEAST, Pasión and others duke it out in those battles. They deserve the same respect as the other contestants.

I completely understand that it is only a 10-week season with one hour each week to showcase the contestants. So maybe Season 2 should have a smaller talent pool? Or maybe the early rounds are a part of an online show and then we jump into the network broadcast?

I love the judging format. I am totally fine with the fact that viewer voting is left off the table. I am even OK with only a one-hour format, it’s kind of fun to have a fast and furious 60 minutes of dance… as long as we get to see the full routines.

I am sure you understand where I am coming from and I know Season 1 is always a time for learning and a few growing pains. I just want you to know that I am happy you are here because the dance world needed a little shaking up. So thanks for bringing us into your World of Dance.

Much love from a dance super-fan and reporter,

Kristyn
